REALTORS® Go Hollywood
In 1959 the National Association of Real Estate Boards (NAREB) went into the movie business when it premiered a 13.5 minute color film at the annual convention in Toronto. "The House Hunters" told the story of a REALTOR® who solves the problems of home buyers and sellers.
The $60,000 budget afforded professional talent including actors Edward Everett Horton and Douglas Kennedy. Horton had the lead role as the house hunter and Kennedy played the knowledgeable, helpful and professional REALTOR®.
Horton was a popular character actor known for roles in the Fred Astaire/Ginger Rogers movies "Top Hat" and "The Gay Divorcee." He was also in prominent films such as "Arsenic and Old Lace," "Here Comes Mr. Jordan" and "The Front Page." Douglas had starred a few years earlier in the television show "Steve Donovan, Western Marshal."
