Momentum Builds on NAR’s 2007 Advocacy Agenda
In her latest podcast, 2007 NAR President Pat Vredevoogd Combs highlights the progress of the association’s 2007 Advocacy Agenda, which focuses on three key goals: creating affordable housing opportunities, protecting consumers in the real estate transaction, and enacting health care insurance legislation.
Less than two months into the new Congress, NAR already has participated in serious discussions with lawmakers and regulators on top issues like FHA reform, keeping banks out of real estate, and affordable health care. We also have participated in hearings and submitted testimony outlining our positions on predatory lending, natural disaster insurance and several other priorities.
All REALTORS® can help keep the momentum going by communicating directly with members of Congress through the REALTOR® Action Center. You also can move the agenda forward in your communities by participating in initiatives like NAR’s RESPA Awareness Campaign and our Housing Opportunity Program. NAR offers a number of other great resources to help REALTORS® talk to consumers about key issues, including an identity theft DVD, developed with the Federal Trade Commission, and brochures on various loan products.
