What Happens in Washington Doesn’t Stay in Washington

The National Association of Realtors® has been working hard in Washington to influence policies that directly affect your business, no matter where you practice real estate. Just recently, I testified at a hearing on whether banking regulators crossed a line when they allowed some national banks to get into hotel, condo and other real estate development. What the hearing made clear is that Congress is watching regulators carefully to make sure the separation between banking and commerce is preserved.

The hearing was also a great example of how your association has been working tirelessly—above and below the radar—to maintain a sound environment for your business.

Whether we’re working to prevent regulators from allowing banks to circumvent laws that keep them out of real estate, ensure fair settlement service rules under the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, or secure Realtors®' rights to buy high quality, affordable health care coverage, NAR’s leadership and staff are committed to keeping your voice heard in Congress, among the executive agencies, and even before the Supreme Court.
