Yet few of us understand what goes into the making of a news story. “NAR in the News” will give its readers a peek behind the scenes into how journalists cover the nation’s largest trade association and the 1.2 million REALTORS® it represents.
This blog is also a place for REALTORS® and others to express their opinions and ask questions that we will try to answer. “NAR in the News” is produced by NAR’s Public Affairs Division.
This blog is provided by the National Association of REALTORS to provide visitors/members with information about NAR's news coverage and the opportunity to comment on real estate issues in the news.

Unfortunately, when the press takes hold of a story, their news becomes reality in the minds of the consumer. Across America, non-real estate professionals now believe that they should hold off on buying real estate until prices fully correct.
In some areas, a correction may be happening, but for most consumers this change has been a self fulfilling prophesy. Consumers are hearing that the market has stalled and are in turn waiting to take action which actually is causing the market to stall

No matter what the media says, there are still people having kids, getting new jobs, transfering to other locations, and even retiring.
Often as a result these people need to buy and sell a home.
Know that is called?? A normal market. Big deal.

"Consumers are hearing that the market has stalled and are in turn waiting to take action which actually is causing the market to stall"
So it was a secret that the market had stalled? Consumers needed the media to tell them? You've got to be kidding.
Then again, maybe you've got a point. Maybe Realtors get a lot of listings because consumers now know they get an additional 16% for their home by listing with a Realtor.
This party is over for Sellers and Realtors. Deal with it gracefully. Another will come at some point. Meanwhile, Buyers will be arriving at their own party fashionably late.
