The long and the short of it

The Canadian mortgage, which was once an average of only 25 years ( 5 years shorter than the typical US mortgage), is under going a growth spurt. Canadians were only recently introduced to 30 and 35 year mortgages starting in March. However even those were eclipsed when Wells Fargo starting marketing the 40 year mortgage in selected cities. These new products allow younger buyers the opportunity to purchase larger homes, in hot, high priced area…… and spend the rest of their lives paying it off.

Do you want francs with that mortgage?

Global investment trends have brought an exciting new concept to the shores of the US, mortgages in foreign currencies. Offered through Loyds TSB , it’s a big hit with Brits buying homes in the sunny state of Florida. The program is also available in eight other states. Mortgages can be tailored to meet any currency requirements or capitalize on favorable exchange rates by allowing the borrower to change currencies up to 4 times a year. So now homebuyers can customize their currency and their countertops.
