One Click Away - MIS Forum Highlights

111308.jpgAt the recent Annual REALTORS® Convention in Orlando, the Member Information Services Forum highlighted several Information Central resources for REALTORS including our Field Guides, eBooks, Technology Reports, Archives and Blogs. The Forum also explored the current state of social networking opportunities for REALTORS - everything from Facebook to Zolve.

Titled Your World - One Click Away, the forum was presented by Wes Atiyeh, Maggie Morris, Lennox Scott and agents in the field that have been using social media and blogging to their advantage: Amy Serra Albright and Tony Schippa. If you weren't able to attend, Wes wrote an entry in his blog about the forum and gathered together all the PowerPoints that were presented.

From the NAR Archives: Ike speaks on REALTORS® and the economy

From the NAR Archives: In a breakfast meeting with about 1,100 Realtors and guests at the National Association's Midwinter Meetings in January 1960, President Dwight D. Eisenhower commended Realtors for their efforts in strengthening the economy and urged them to help build what he termed "the mightiest force there is in the United States: an informed public opinion."

InfoCentral celebrates National Library Week

Bookwormcookies_blog.jpg InfoCentral celebrated National Library Week recently with five days of events for NAR staff and visitors to the library. We kicked off the event on Monday with donuts and coffee in the lobby. Activities continued throughout the week and included demos of our new Mac Pro computer and the videos we create on it, Amazon's new Kindle eBook reader and the ProQuest Database available to all REALTORS® via NAR's Virtual Library. Some fun activities included breakfast in the library on Wednesday, a bookwork cookie break on Friday (pictured above), a daily email quiz, an online scavenger hunt, and a hands-on beaded bookmark craft session. Staff from NAR and our institutes and affiliates were invited to all events. By the end of the week approximately a third of the employees in the building stopped by the library to celebrate with us.

Also launched during National Library Week is our ongoing book exchange. Staff and visitors are encouraged to bring in novels, DVDs, videos and other materials to exchange for something new to read or watch. We hope everyone enjoyed the week's activities and were glad to see some new faces! More photos after the jump.
