What will impact real estate this year?

Jeremy Conaway discusses factors that will influence the real estate industry in 2007. Media will continue to pick on real estate, empowered consumers will demand more information about houses and the home-buying process and such upstart websites like Zillow will mix it up in the real estate industry. "The current industry situation provides two clear insights. The first is that there is more opportunity for profit, creativity and innovation than at any other time in the history of the industry. A new boom lies ahead, but entry will be on the basis of meeting the current challenges rather than delivering yesterday’s product. Secondly, it must become immediately apparent that many of these new challenges cannot be met on a brokerage-by-brokerage basis."

Roger Turcotte gives tips on dealing with the current cycle of this real estate market. Work within the current market conditions, constantly prospect for clients, terminate buyers and sellers who aren't buying and selling and concentrate on the long-term, not the short term.

Your new agents are struggling--how can you help them? Brian Hilliard has some ideas. Learn how to ask the right question. Concentrate on a specific market and develop a sphere of influence. Don't try to be all things to all people. "One of the first things I advise my clients to do is develop a "sphere of influence" or target market, for whom their service is best suited. By that I mean take into account your strengths, and the specific characteristics you as a Realtor® bring to the table."
