Thursday in Las Vegas - for Association Executives

Meeting with incoming NAR President: Dick Gaylord gave these insights into his leadership approach - if there are concerns, communicate directly with him; he's going to solve problems; culture needs to continuously evolve to ensure members feel connected; focus will be on getting things done - action.

In spirit of Vegas, think of these Elvis lyrics to help get to goals ...
"A little less conversation, a little more action please
All this aggravation ain't satisfactioning me
A little more bite and a little less bark
A little less fight and a little more spark"

Regional lunch: In another hotel -- with the big plus being the need to go outside to get there -- found out the weather is actually beautiful. Everything is so centralized at Venetian, we forget there's an outside.

Doris Kearns Goodwin: Masterful storyteller and author relayed stories of presidents and baseball, and life/leadership lessons learned from both. One of many funny stories included her swimming with LBJ (President Johnson) and him having work tools floating around on rafts in the pool in case he needed them - notepads, sandwiches, etc. Guess there are always more ways to multi-task.

Celebrity Concert: Nearly two full hours of James Taylor songs, one after the other. Magical evening -- sound in the room, and James Taylor himself could not have been better.
