Whose beads are the BEST beads?!

I was in line the other day in the conference registration area at the Morial Convention Center, and bumped into a REALTOR® who was wearing at least 12 different beads around her neck. Indeed, as Cindy Butts noted in an earlier entry, the bead swap is in full swing.

But who has the best beads? I have several personal favorites so far: I love Florida's, with the hanging license plate and the medallions that have pictures of things Florida is famous for....including one that simply says "Moe," as in Moe Veissi, chair of NAR's Strategic Planning Committee and a former Regional Vice President. The Texas beads, with their flags and hats and boots, are another standout, as are Georgia's with the peaches, and Hawaii's with the flowered tee-shirt hanging off it.

But so far, I think the hands-down winner is that of one of the RVP classes. They are heavy, gold- and silver-colored, hand-tied, and sport a medallion that is half sun and half moon, with one small crescent moon complementing the medallion up the bead string on either side.

Which are YOUR favorite beads so far? Let me and others knows with a comment on this blog post.

I think the MilitaryAvenue.com beads with American Flags on them was pretty good. They were handing them out due to Saturday being Veterans Day.

Re: Whose Beads Are the BEST Beads.. Pamela, thanks for the vote for our 2003 RVP beads with the Sun, Moon and Stars. We have a salute to Dick Gaylord who is a member of our '03 RVPs on the back of the medallion. So glad you enjoyed them!!! Carole Horn, Lafayette, LA '03 RVP

The beads are magic even in the week following NARdi Gras. The green beads from fellow Web Women Giving Circle member Laura Klase in Arizona feature an orange map medallion with a handsome cactus and invite warm memories during a chilly, rainy, stormy week in eastern Pennsylvania. The blue map medallion from Alaska, with a picture of a huge white bear, is disconnected from its bead chain ... but my inclinations are not taking me to ice and snow and places so frigid.

My silver New Mexico beads are special since I received them from REALTOR Deanne Ottaway, a friend known by telephone and e-mail only until the convention. They remind me that I will visit New Mexico in spring.

I had an interesting experience when I received a set of beads from a New York REALTOR. The beads are basic black and resemble a set of rosary beads that my father carries and I said a quick, instinctive Hail Mary. It's been a while since I said the words of a Hail Mary. Interesting that I should find a reason to say them on Bourbon Street. Hmmmmm....
